Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri was frustrated by the draw his team earned against ten-man Roma at the Olimpico on Monday evening, he explained to Sky Sport after the match.
“I’m happy with how my team played, up till the 70th minute,” said Allegri. “We were building up well until then, then we just stopped playing. This draw made us leave the field very angry. Nine points are an important advantage but the season is still long. We haven’t won our last three away games, and it’s time to take all the points home even from far away from Turin. In the end of the match Roma put excellent pressure on us, meanwhile we weren’t sharp enough and even risked losing the game. There are details that need to be improved, every now and then we lose a bit of mental clarity. Our objective is still far away, and anyway we need to stop giving up late goals because we’ve conceded far too many of them recently.”
Was that a collapse from Juve at the end?
“Not really. A series of events set in motion and unleashed all of Roma’s speed. The giallorossi found their courage. Garcia made three important substitutions and at that point our numerical superiority didn’t count for much, considering how tired our players were.”
What’s your take on the tactical showing tonight from your team?
“My boys did very well to slow Roma down, they didn’t give them an inch. I’m disappointed, though, because we need to exploit the situation better when we are ahead. We need to slow down the tempo and close up shop in defense.”
