Roma midfielder Seydou Keita’s header on a set piece was enough for a draw but Roma could not manage a win against leaders Juventus at the Olimpico on Monday night.
Speaking to Mediaset after the match, Keita commented on the difference between his Roma and Juventus at this point in time.
“The difference between us? Faith. Juve have been winners for many years and they have a calm assurance that they can stay ahead in the rankings.”
The match at the Olimpico was a tense affair, with numerous yellow cards handed out to both sides. It was scoreless at halftime, then midway through the second half Roma defender Vassilis Torosidis was sent off for a second yellow, and Carlos Tevez scored for Juventus on the resulting free kick from just outside the box. As Roma were reduced to ten men, the tempo and urgency of the game suddenly increased.
“We played doubly hard after Torosidis’ expulsion,” explained Keita. “But it still wasn’t enough to win. We needed three points today, a victory was crucial for us. I’m very disappointed, I wanted to beat Juve.”
