Bee Taechaubol Takeover: The Latest

Thai businessman Bee Taechaubol has set his sights on a purchase of A.C. Milan, with longtime president Silvio Berlusconi reportedly agreeing to the sale

Back in December 2014 when Milan supporters and European football fans were introduced to the icon that is Bee Taechaubol, the idea of a sale by Silvio Berlusconi seemed like an unlikely event. In the past few weeks, talks of a sale of the historically successful Italian giant have surfaced as it seems like the rossoneri will finally get the renovation it so desperately craves.  According to Gianluca Di Marzio, there will be a meeting between Taechaubol and Berlusconi tomorrow to seal the deal that will relinquish a large stake of the club, around 60%.

With more of the details still to be determined, here is what has been reported by Di Marzio:

The purchase of 60% of Milan will cost $1.4 billion gross and will be paid in three years. For budgeting and FFP reasons, €70-100mil will be spent in the mercato, excluding sales which has been something the Rossoneri fans will appreciate. However, any purchases the club makes could be in the form of a loan with an option to buy as it will effect the 2016 budget and allow more financial flexibility for when new sponsorship deals arrive. Doyen Sports, who played a part in the negotiations between the parties, have agreed to bring some of the players under the agency to the 7-time Champions League winners for free in the next two years.

Doyen Sports Group represents a large amount of players, some more recognized and established than others. Some of the more prominent names represented by the group include: Radamel Falcao, Eliaquim Mangala, Geoffrey Kondogbia, Yacine Brahimi and Felipe Anderson. Taechaubol isn’t the only investor going in on this transaction, with an Asian consortium helping the deal become a reality. In the coming days and weeks, more is expected to be released on this major news but it appears that the end of an era has arrived, while a new regime is beginning.

Manchester United Continue to Track De Vrij

Manchester United have returned to the fold in pursuit of Lazio defender Stefan De Vrij.

According to English newspaper Metro the Red Devils have put a €25 million offer on the plate, however the Lazio president Claudio Lotito has reportedly declined the proposal.

Lazio have every intention of declining each offer, as they want to keep hold of their Dutch international. The 23 year-old center half was purchased from Feyenoord after a convincing World Cup with the Netherlands last summer.

Furthermore, per the Metro, Manchester United have been told that Lotito will “reject any and every offer” for the defender.

De Vrij has made 31 appearances with two goals in all competitions this season.

Azzurri of the Week (32)

With Torino shocking their cross town rival Juventus this past weekend, there was plenty to write about this week. Let’s take a glance at these Azzurri:

 

FORMATION 352:

Keeper:

PADELLI (TORINO)- This man was certainly locking down his goal and defense all match. Great work keeping 5 shots on target out of the net and earning a hard fought win.

Defense:

MORETTI (TORINO)- The 33 year old is getting better as the season moves on. He had 6 ball recoveries through the match against Juventus. Great work by this man to stay in the back of Conte’s mind all year.

RANOCCHIA (INTER)- Solid work on the day, wasn’t pretty but has matured greatly since having a few rough seasons. Mancini bringing the best out of him.

BONUCCI (JUVENTUS)-58/63 passes for a CB? Yes he was a midfielder back in his youth but Leo so vital as a regista type of defender. His long balls are feared.

Midfield:

CANDREVA (LAZIO)- the man did everything right this weekend. He has been one of the reasons why Lazio has taken off into 2nd. Conte stupid to keep him out of starting XI.

VALDIFIORI (EMPOLI)-  Although 44/56 passes aren’t much for a central mid, he has great vision and can help Conte off the bench.

PIRLO (JUVENTUS)- that free kick. Need I say more?

GABBIADINI (NAPOLI)- he’s been on a tear last few matches and can play striker as well. As a CM he is a great asset going forward and linking the deeper midfielders to strikers.

DARMIAN (TORINO) Really showed his class against Juvenuts and is a diamond that is waiting to be polished. The Best fullback Italy has right now and will be for the next 4-6 years. Next Maldini here?

Strikers:

PELLE (SOUTHAMPTON) -2 goals, great holdup play, much more complete #9 than previously thought. Killer instinct in the air is huge off set pieces and passes from deep.

INSIGNE (NAPOLI): With another goal this Sunday, Lorenzo is back to full health. So dangerous and shifty and loves to take people on. would make an excellent mezz’ala as well but like him up top given the shortage of strikers. Conte you hear?

Aquilani Americana? A Possible Move to MLS

Alberto Aquilani’s next transfer seems far away from Florence, Serie A or even perhaps Europe all together. According to Italian journalist Manuele Baiocchini, the distance between Aquilani and Fiorentina has grown in size and will leave at the end of the season. The midfielder born in 1984 will let his contract expire in the summer, and will not renew it with the Viola.

After the meeting between the player’s entourage and club representatives, the parties could not find an agreement to find a solution to continue together, it’s a clear signal that the player will not be wearing purple next season, or at least not in Italy.

Interestingly enough, Aquilani has changed agents and is now under the council of Andrea D’Amico. A future in MLS would suit Aquilani very well, in which there are strong ties to Toronto FC. A move to Canada cannot be excluded and a possible reunion between him and Sebastian Giovinco, who already made the voyage across the Atlantic.

The seasoned Italian international has made 35 appearances for the Azzurri and scored five times during his stint with La Nazionale.

Heating Up: De Laurentiis Makes Contact with Mihajlovic over Napoli Job

More tremors of a possible coaching change are coming from the Neapolitans, as reports of talks between Napoli supremo Aurelio De Laurentiis and current Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic continue to surge.

According to Sky Sport, Mihajlovic doesn’t have the certainty of making the trip south to Napoli, and is waiting on an answer from Rafa Benitez, on whether he will remain at the Castel Volturno based outfit.

The interest on bringing Mihajlovic to Napoli, is however, concrete. The ball is in the Spaniard’s court, the future of Napoli’s bench is entirely on Rafa Benitez and whether he remains or steps down. If he decides to leave, real strides can be taken to bring in ‘Miha’.

Inter Are Chasing a Chievo Verona Defender

The club from the black and blue side of Milano are looking to acquire another Chievo Verona defender in the form of Ervin Zukanovic.

The 28 year-old Bosnian international joined the Veronese side from Belgian giants KAA Gent last summer, and could continue his rise to the Italian giants, according to SKY Sport.

Inter’s coach Roberto Mancini is keen on adding another left-sided defender and with a price tag of around €2 million, the Nerazzurri are keen on the acquisition.

Zukanovic has been a regular for Rolando Maran’s side, taking to the field 27 times in Serie A as well as scoring two goals in that time.
