Marquinho An Option for Torino

Giampiero Ventura’s Torino are said to be in the market for another midfielder and have set their sights on Marquinho.

The Granata have their eyes locked on the mercato, weighing their midfield options as the second-half of the season kicks off. According to Gianluca di Marzio, Torino consider Udinese’s Marquinho as a replacement for Alessandro Gazzi who is close to a Cagliari move.

The Brazilian center midfielder would arrive on loan however Torino will not be alone in pursuit for the player. Corinthians and Fluminense are reported to be interested which would signal a return home for Marquinho.

The 29-year old has made 10 appearances and accumulated 3 yellow cards for Udinese.

De Laurentiis “A top player will arrive in January”

During the holiday break, Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, spoke with Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli and promised that a top quality player would be arriving to the club in January.

De Laurentiis went on to say:

“I thank the Neapolitans who gave me the gift and opportunity to go see the movie “Christmas With the Boss.” Also,  my promise to give them an important player will be maintained. A major player will arrive because in Naples only champions should play. Making the squad better is going to be difficult. I want players that have experience and are from the years 1990 and 1991. If someone is to come it is better they come sooner rather than later so that they can learn the tactics of the coach as soon as possible.”

De Laurentiis also made some comments aimed towards previous Napoli coach, Rafa Benitez. He said:

“His era is now part of the past. Rafa stood by us for two years meanwhile elsewhere he has trouble  moving  forward. I was good and I respected the contracts.”

Watford Interested in Lazio’s Keita

Newly-promoted Watford are in the market for another forward and have set their sights on Lazio’s Keita Balde.

According to Manuele Baiocchini, Watford have already contacted Lazio president Claudio Lotito and sporting director Igli Tare over the availability of Keita Balde. However, it won’t be easy for the signing to go through as the winger holds a Senegalese passport which threatens to derail the deal. In the next few weeks, negotiations between both parties are expected to continue. In addition, Keita is expected to receive his Spanish passport shortly meaning that he will be able to complete the move should Lazio and Watford come to an agreement.

The Senegalese man has been used mostly as a rotation player under Stefano Pioli but has impressed when called upon. In fact, Keita scored Lazio’s only goal in their two Champions qualifiers against Bayer Leverkusen where the biancocelesti eventually fell short.

For Watford, on the other hand, the need for another winger has pushed them to pursuing the 20-year-old. The English side were previously after Roma’s Juan Iturbe but the Argentine chose to sign with Bournemouth in the end. Moreover, Watford boss Quique Sánchez Flores was skeptical about the Roma man’s ability to buy into the hard-working mentality at the club.

Keita has made 15 appearances for Lazio this season scoring two goals and registering a further two assists.

A Potential Serie A Return for Sirigu?

From trusted starter to onlooker from the bench, Salvatore Sirigu is no longer the number one custodian in the French capital.

Since the signing of Kevin Trapp from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer, the Italian international has only stood between the posts once in Ligue 1 where he earned a clean sheet vs Bastia in October.

Despite Trapp’s string of errors and numerous jeers from the supporters for his rollercoaster performances, the German is still preferred over Sirigu. It is no secret that Sirigu is thinking of exiting Paris Saint-Germain regardless of the club’s domestic dominance and Champions League Final objective.

According to Alfredo Pedulla, French newspaper Le Parisien reported that Roma have held multiple discussion for the ex-Palermo Goalkeeper and that he rejected advances from Aston Villa in preference of a return to Italy.

With the EURO fast approaching, Sirigu wants consistent playing time as he hopes to remain in Conte’s plans for the Azzurri squad. Although there is still a good chance he gets selected for the summer tournament, the likes of Perin, Sportiello, Padelli and even Donnarumma could push Sirigu down the pecking order should he fail to earn significant on-field minutes in the second half of the season.

Atalanta Return for Boakye

After only half a season on-loan at Eredivisie club Roda JC, Richmond Boakye is returning to Bergamo. As reported by Alfredo Pedulla, the ex-Juventus forward’s loan contract has been terminated by Roda, sending him back to Atalanta for the remainder of the season.

Boakye did not hit it off with the Dutch club, appearing 9 times without a single goal. His best season statistically still remains his 2012/2013 one with Sassuolo where he scored a career-high 11 goals in 32 appearances for the then-Serie B club.

For now, the Ghanian international will rejoin Edy Reja’s squad and it will remain to be seen if he will stick around for 2016 or be sent out on another loan.
