Buffon: ”It Is Not Mission Impossible Against Spain”

The Azzurri  legend is ready for the challenge ahead against Spain and does not want to worry about being placed in the toughest side of the Knockout bracket.

Speaking to Il Grande Match ahead of today’s second round encounter against the reigning European champions, Spain, Gianluigi Buffon knows it will not be an easy match but says they will need to give it their all regardless of the bracket they are in:

It will be a complicated match, but it will not be impossible and we knew this even before the EURO. We will face the hand that fate has dealt us. If we have to sweat through seven shirts, we will do so. We fell into the worst part of the bracket but we cannot feel sorry for ourselves as us Italians usually do. This match against Spain will be a challenge that is worth more than a second round game. We must play with all our strength and all the anger we have inside us.

Probable Italy Starting XI vs Spain

The Azzurri are set to clash with the back to back defending champions of the European Championship, Spain later today.

Antonio Conte is reverting to the same core group of players who beat Belgium and Sweden, however the only key absentee is Antonio Candreva who has failed to recovery from a knock he sustained against Sweden over a week ago.

(3-5-2) Buffon (C) – Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini – De Sciglio, Giaccherini, De Rossi, Parolo, Florenzi – Eder, Pelle.

All of these players except Bonucci and Barzagli were rested against Ireland in the 1-0 defeat for the Italians. 

Italy has fallen in 3 of the last 4 competitive matches against the Spanish. Their last win coming in a friendly in Bari in 2011.

Juventus Insert Themselves In Race For Pjaca

The Bianconeri  join Milan as the two Serie A clubs vying to sign the young Croatian winger.

Despite a crushing loss to Portugal in the Knockout Round and now heading back to his homeland to focus on the upcoming HNL season in Croatia, Marko Pjaca turned heads at the competitions and many clubs have begun to take notice.

As reported previously, Milan are prepared to make a move for the 21-year old winger with an offer of around €13 however they could now face competition from a very convincing rival. As per Sky Sport, Juventus have made contact with the Croatian’s entourage but have not submitted any offer to his parent club, Dinamo Zagreb. Regardless of the club interested in him, Zagreb expect his suitors to cough up close to €20 million if they want to lure him away.

Pjaca played in 28 games for Dinamo Zagreb last season, collecting eight goals and four assists. He also scored three goals in six Champions League Qualification games.

Rafael Heading Towards Exit At Napoli

The Brazilian goalkeeper likely to wave goodbye to Serie A as offers from Spain present themselves.

Unable to find space in Maurizio Sarri’s squad, goalkeeper Rafael Cabral is searching for greener pastures and two La Liga clubs have reportedly shown interest as per GazzaMercato.it. Both Deportivo Alaves and Osasuna, who were recently promoted to the top flight, are in search of strengthening their shot-stopping department and consider the Brazilian as a possible option.

Rafael did not play a single minute for Napoli this season as he could not knock off Pepe Reina for the starting job. He has a contract at the club which expires in June 2018.

Juventus To Secure Another Young Italian Talent

Juventus are once again thinking ahead of their competition by nearing the acquisition of another highly-touted youth prospect in the Italy.

According to Footballscouting, the Bianconeri are closing in on Cesena striker Elia Petrelli, from their talent class of 2001. He is considered by many as one of the best Under-15 Italian players across the country.

This past season, Petrelli spent his time playing in the Under 15 league and appeared in the Under-17 Allievi Lega Pro where he helped Cesena finish 2nd behind Santarcangelo in Girone C. He was also crowned capocannoniere at the 2015 edition of the annual Torneo Daniele Pecci in the town of Bellaria Igea Marina in Rimini, where he notched four goals in six games.

Inter To Present New Offer To Lazio For Candreva

The Nerazzurri  are planning to improve their offer to convince Lazio of selling one of their prized players.

As per Sky Sport, Inter will return to the table with an offer higher than the original €20 million, along with the inclusion of certain bonuses, for Lazio midfielder Antonio Candreva. He is seen as one of many players Lazio plan on selling this summer and he has made it clear that he wants to look elsewhere to play next season. The Biancocelesti have been adamant about wanting clubs to meet their €25 million fee for Candreva but Inter’s newest offer could loosen Claudio Lotito’s grip.

The 29-year old scored 10 goals in 30 games for Lazio this past season and has a contract at the club that expires June 2019.

Chelsea abandon Nainggolan pursuit, take aim for Witsel

The Blues have temporarily suspended their efforts to sign Radja Nainggolan from Roma in favor of Zenit’s Axel Witsel.

Axel Witsel is on the radar of many Italian clubs, and now Chelsea’s as well. According to Sky Sport, Chelsea were unsuccessful in putting an agreement in place to sign Radja Nainggolan. However, the more plausible alternative, Witsel from Zenit, is now on Conte’s wishlist as well.

Napoli, Inter and Roma had all been on the hunt for the want-away Belgian from Russia. In recent weeks they, and many other clubs had requested information, IFD understands.

Nainggolan was unwilling to leave Italy after 9 years, but Witsel has already announced he does not plan to return to Russia. 

At this time, it seems that the other Belgian player is the more likely candidate to sign with Chelsea this summer.

Roma do not want to continue to sell their key players, and have for the moment repelled Chelsea’s advances.
