Sambenedettese Sign Pescara Striker On Loan

The Delfini loan out the 20-year old striker to the Lega Pro club for their return campaign to the third tier of Italian football.

As per TuttoLegaPro, Sambenedettese have signed striker Alesso Di Massimo on loan from Pescara. The young striker spent the second half of last season on loan at Juventus Primvera, winning the Viareggio Cup with Fabio Grosso’s squad. He finished his loan stint with three goals and three assists in 12 games for the Bianconeri.

Di Massimo was signed by Pescara from his hometown club, Sant’Omera Palmense, who last season competed in Promozione. From September to December, he took the field for Avezzano in Serie D Girone F, on-loan, where he scored five goals in 12 games.

Grosseto Pull Out Of Applying For Lega Pro Admission

Grosseto renounce decision to submit application for possible entry in Lega Pro due to a number of factors and will remain in Serie D.

In an official statement released by the club, as per TuttoMercatoWeb, Grosseto have decided against applying for admission into Lega Pro for the 2016/2017 season. The statement detailed the reasons behind their decision:

The decision to not present a demand to be drafted was taken by the shareholders, who felt the lack of positive feedback do not justify such an important monetary investment. Through the course of this work year, we missed the constructive partnership with local bodies, credit institutions and local sectors. The same sporting facilities were not renovated and restructured as promised (last intervention in 2006). There were no major sponsorship from local entrepreneurs. The non-renewal of the grants for the Zecchini and Palazzoli sporting facilities from the part of the Grosseto municipality. The lack of investments for the youth sector. The failure to retrofit the field lighting of the Nilo Palazzoli. If it is true that Grosseto FC is the team of the city forever, it would have been in the interest of the city, to create preconditions and partnerships that would permit us to say yes to the draft.

We will continue to invest in the current championship and thinking about winning it. Next year we will evaluate it again. We hope that this year changes the collaboration of the city with Grosseto FC.

16 Clubs Submit Applications For Lega Pro Admission

A number of Serie D clubs are pursuing their requests to be promoted in Lega Pro to fill any spots  vacated by bankrupt or non-registered clubs.

As per TuttoMercatoWeb, 16 clubs, including a handful from Serie D and those relegated from Lega Pro the previous season, have submitted their applications to potentially be drafted into Lega Pro next season.

The 16 clubs listed are Racing Club (formerly known as Lupa Castelli Roman), Melfi, Lupa Roma, Albinoleffe, Pro Patria, Fano, Fondi, Olbia, Forli’, Cavese, Taranto, Reggina, Monza, Rieti, Lecco & Vibonese.

At this moment, Pro Patria and Rieti’s applications could be considered incomplete.

Barcelona, PSG linked to want away striker Carlos Bacca

Barcelona look to bolster attacking options with Colombian Striker.

In an attempt to give their forward line some additional back up and firing power, Barcelona are considering many alternatives. Despite possessing one of the most potent tridents in club football, the Spanish titans would prefer to have quality back up in case of injuries.

According to Nico Schira of Gazza Mercato, one transfer target linked to the La Liga giants is A.C. Milan striker Carlos Bacca, who is courting the interest of a number of European clubs. The Rossoneri have slapped a 30 million euro price tag on the Colombian as they look to use his sale to finance transfers for players in other departments.

Bacca would be a reliable option, having spent two years with Sevilla in which he scored 34 goals in 72 appearances. Conversely, he had a good debut Serie A season in which he scored 18 goals and was Milan’s highest goal scorer. It is well known that Bacca wants to play in the Champions League as he turned down a move to West Ham in the English Premier League; he nears turning 30 and feels his time is running short.

Besides Barcelona, PSG are also interested in Bacca and may have a significant draw card in new coach Unai Emery, who managed the Colombian back in Seville.

Arsenal pinpoint Manolas to replace Mertesacker

A terrible injury for the Arsenal defender means the club will have to go on the market for a new man.

Per Mertesacker suffered a severe knee injury in the friendly against Leeds on Thursday that will keep him out for as much as 5 months. According to the British Sky Sports, the German defender will miss at least half the season.

This has given Arsene Wenger a huge headache for his backline, but it could also bother Luciano Spalletti as well. The Gunners are in on move now for a defender of quality and the Greek man fits the bill.

Spalletti has stated his desire to keep Manolas for the Champions League this season, and even the player has denounced the rumors in the press.

Manolas, responding to a fan on Instagram, said “Stop reading the b******* the journalists say”. The fan was pleading the defender not to leave Roma.

However, with Premier League money, an irrefutable offer could come to Roma’s directors in the coming days.

Signing from Olympiakos in 2014, the Greek club are entitled to a portion of the profit of a potential sale, per terms in the agreement.
