Roma won 2-1 away to Feyenoord on Thursday night and triumphed 3-2 on aggregate to progress through to the Round of 16 in the Europa League.
Although Feyenoord got off to a bright start, Roma eventually took control of the game and looked more dangerous in possession. The home side had Mitchell Te Vrede sent-off but the Dutch side played better when they trailed.
Adem Ljajic opened the scoring the first half and then play had been stopped because of an inflated banana which came onto the ground. Once play resumed, Elvis Manu scored for the Dutch side only for Gervinho to quickly respond and score the goal to ensure Roma’s progress through to the next round.

Feyenoord
Kenneth Vermeer – 6 – Unprotected
He can play as a sweeper-keeper but he did not make any great saves. His defence did not protect him enough though.
Khalid Boulahrouz – 5.5 – Outfoxed
He made some decent interventions but he let Ljajic get away for the first goal though. Replaced by Manu for tactical reasons.
Sven van Beek – 5.5 – Outpaced
He should that he could play the ball out of defence but was not able to mark Gervinho when the Ivorian scored.
Terence Kongolo – 5.5 – Costly
He let Gervinho slip away for the winner. Decent passing but defending questionable.
Miquel Nelom – 4.5 – Erroneous
Both Roma goals came from crosses on Feyenoord’s left flank. He should have been able to close Pjanic and Torosidis down but he didn’t.
Jordy Clasie – 6.5 – Reliable
He was the one Feyenoord player that remained calm throughput the 90 minutes. Clasie was comfortable on the ball and he barely wasted a pass.
Jens Toornstra – 6 – Consistent
Toornstra was another Feyenoord midfielder who passed well and offered some sort of offensive threat. Could have scored with a free-kick with less than 10 minutes remaining.
Karim El Ahmadi – 5 – Mundane
He was the least enterprising of the three starting midfielders. Attempted a cross with the outside of his right boot near the end of the game but he was not successful.
Rick Karsdorp – 6 – Average
He made some positive runs in the first half but he faded as the game when on.
Colin Kazim-Richards – 6 – Lively
In the first 10 minutes, he was probably the most dangerous player on the pitch and he put the Roma defence under pressure. He came off with a hamstring injury after 27 minutes.
Tonny Vilhena – 4.5 – Invisible
Feyenoord were pegged back at times but even when they attacked, Vilhena hardly did anything noteworthy.
Substitutes
Mitchell Te Vrede – 4.5
He came on to replace Kazim-Richards after 27 minutes but he did not have a clear shot on goal. Received a straight red for a foul on Manolas after 54 minutes.
Elvis Manu – 6
He replaced Boulahrouz after 56 minutes and made it 1-1 but he also missed two other chances to score. Surely the liveliest Feyenoord player on the night.
Anass Achahbar – No vote
Replaced Vilhena after 84 minutes and made one small dribble.
