Tottenham’s Federico Fazio Expected to Move to Roma

Roma are very close to sealing the arrival of a new defender to bolster their squad in an attempt to finally dethrone Juventus.

According to Di Marzio, Roma have all but sealed the deal for Tottenham’s Federico Fazio and are awaiting their lawyers to finalize the finer details. Di Marzio further states that the Argentinean defender will arrive in Italy tomorrow to complete the deal.

The transfer will be for a loan initially, before making it permanent a year after for the sum of 4 million euros. Spalletti is keen to bring the Fazio into the squad and help push his current defensive incumbents. Furthermore the transfer would represent a good piece of business for Roma.

The player only moved to Tottenham in the summer of 2014 for a fee believed to be in the region of 10 million euros.  He made 20 appearances in his debut season but only played one game for Tottenham in 2015/2016  season in the Capital One cup, before returning to Sevilla during the winter last season to help them win the Europa League.

Chelsea, Conte: “When you finish in tenth place it means there are problems”

Antonio Conte hails his first Scudetto victory with Juventus in his first season, as his greatest achievement to date.

The former Bianconeri player and manager took charge of the club in the summer of 2011 after Gigi Del Neri was sacked after a poor season in which the club finished seventh and missed out on qualification for Europe.

He went onto win the Scudetto in his first season, finishing unbeaten in the League and losing to Napoli in the Coppa Italia Final.

“As a coach [my greatest achievement] was the first championship of my career with Juventus.”

“It was fantastic because we started the season as the underdog and the press had us down for sixth or seventh place in the table.”

“I remember that Milan had Zlatan Ibrahimovic and it was the only season that he didn’t win the championship.”

“I remember Inter won the treble in their last season under Mourinho and Napoli had Cavani and Hamsik, in that period we were the underdogs and we won our first title unbeaten.”

Antonio Conte now finds himself in a similar situation at Chelsea, after the club failed to retain their Premier League trophy last season, sacking Jose Mourinho in December and finishing in 10th place.

“When you finish in tenth place it means there are problems, in this situation the most important thing is to think of the present. Don’t forget about the past because it teaches us a lot. It is important to think of the present because we must work very hard and speak through our actions, not words.”

“Because it is important now to say okay, we are ready to fight, we can come back very soon and to win the title – those are just words. Its important now to act, all together, because now is not a good period for us. There are problems but we stay here to solve them.”

“The situation is not easy and it’s very important to understand this. Also, it’s important to stay together in this moment and to create the right spirit between us, the fans, the club, players, manager and all the people who work at Chelsea.”

PSG issue hands off warning to Juve; offer Verratti contract extension

French club Paris Saint-Germain look to hold on to their prized possession by renewing the midfielder’s contract until 2021.

According to Sportitalia‘s Alfredo Pedullà, PSG are improving Verratti’s contract less than six months after the last extensions. The 23 year old has been linked as a possible replacement for Pogba, should the midfielder depart with Juve.

Prior to the extension the former Pescara midfielder stated that he had no intention of leaving the French organization until he won the Champions League with the club.

Marco Verratti was also linked to Real Madrid as a possible replacement for Toni Kroos.

The Italian international has made 105 appearances for PSG since joining in 2012.

Jeremy Menez departs A.C. Milan, joins French club Bordeaux

The French international will return to playing in his home country after signing a three year deal.

Following the completion of his medical, the 29 year old will make his return to Ligue 1 for an undisclosed fee.

The move could be an attempt to keep striker Carlos Bacca who has been linked with several other clubs.

The player scored 16 goals in 33 appearances for the rossoneri  but was plagued by injury problems in his second season missing the first 26 games of the season.

Liverpool prepare £16 million offer for Milan’s De Sciglio

Liverpool are the first team to come up with an offer for the 23 year old with plenty of interest.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, “The Reds” have come up with a price for Mattia De Sciglio, and that price is £16 million. The defender’s agent stated “There are definitely many clubs interested, we are looking around both in Italy and abroad. We have also had contact with Napoli.”

The offer comes just two days after the teams faced off in the International Champions Cup.  De Sciglio however did not feature in the game as he was on an extended vacation following his international duty. After his impressive performance at the EURO 2016 tournament, several teams were said to be interested in the player.

His transfer would be the first of his career as he spent his entire senior career with the rossoneri, featuring 85 times since 2011.

Carrarese, Andrea Danesi: ”We Are A Work In Progress Right Now”

Carrarese’s bench boss discussed his squad need for improvement going into the season following their Coppa Italia elimination.

Speaking out about his squad’s loss to Arezzo in the First Round of the Coppa Italia via the club’s official website, Carrarese manager Andrea Danesi they were superior to their opponents and that there is still work to be done to strengthen the team:

Our game was at a level higher in respect to Arezzo, both in our style of play and the cohesion between positions. The Amaranto were a real battleship and we were very good in putting them in difficulty. Our opponent’s goals were due to our carelessness but there is room for improvement, also because were in a period of full preparation.

I want to compliment the lads who put in body and soul and who never gave up an inch. Despite the defeat on the field, the victory was in the stands. I saw an enthusiastic crowd and I believe as always that they can be an extra weapon for our season. We are a work in progress right now. We will certainly intervene on the transfer market to strengthen the roster in the roles that require it.

Melfi Have Their Eyes On Former Fidelis Andria Striker

Melfi looking to add offensive depth with a possible climb up to Lega Pro waiting in the wings.

As Melfi await to find out if their application for Lega Pro admission will be approved, they have set their sight on a 23-year striker to help boost their front line. As per TuttoLegaPro, Alessandro De Vena is being considered by the Gialloverdi, should they move up a tier.

De Vena spent last season at both Santarcangelo and Fidelis Andria, appearing in a total 28 combined games. The Napoli native scored a four goals and notched two assists overall last season.
