Allegri: Cesena draw was a missed opportunity for Juventus

Massimiliano Allegri Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has said his side missed a good opportunity to extend their lead in Serie A against Cesena.

La Vecchia Signora drew 2-2 away at Cesena on Sunday night, in a match that ended with Arturo Vidal missing a penalty for the visitors.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, the 47-year-old said: “It was a poor night for us, we sat on our lead in the second half instead of going in search of a third.

“It’s a pity because it was an important opportunity for us tonight to extend our lead.”

This draw means that the gap between the Italian champions and Roma at the top of the Serie A table remains seven points, while Cesena remain in the relegation zone.

Speaking on Vidal’s missed penalty, the former Milan boss said: “Vidal was one of our best players, but unfortunately missing spot kicks is something that occasionally happens to penalty takers.”
