New Roma signing Seydou Doumbia has revealed that he’s very happy to be a part of the capital city club and admits that he’s looking forward to playing alongside all of the talented players at the Italian side including Francesco Totti.
The 27-year-old striker completed his move to the Giallorossi from CSKA Moscow on January 31, signing a deal that will see him remain with the Lupi for the next four years, and he confirms that his main goal for the remainder of the 2014-15 campaign is to adapt well to life in the Serie A while helping his team succeed in any way possible.
Doumbia spoke to Foot Mercato about his decision to join Roma and gave thanks to those who believed in him at the start of his career, insisting that he wouldn’t be where he is today without their faith.
“I’m obviously very happy to be a part of Roma and to be able to play in such a competitive league,” said the Ivorian international.
“To play alongside players like Totti, Miralem Pjanic, Gervinho and Daniele De Rossi, while playing under a decidedly offensive-minded coach like Rudi Garcia, I could afford to make this leap.
“How many goals will I score? I don’t have a fixed target. I’m mainly thinking of integrating well in the group so I can make my contribution, personal success is secondary.
“I want to publicly thank the coach and president I played under at my first club, Athletic Adjame, because they made me work hard. What I have today is because of them, too.”
