Jeremy Menez insists that he has matured as an individual and grown out of the attitude problems which plagued his early career.
The AC Milan forward has been in outstanding form this season, scoring 12 times in Serie A after joining the Rossoneri on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer and the Frenchman is keen to play down any perceptions that he can be a disruptive character.
“At Milan I’m fine and I’m happy because I’m doing a good job,” the 27-year-old explained to RMC Sports.
“So far I think I’ve enjoyed a good career considering I’ve played for big clubs like Monaco, Roma and PSG.
“I have grown and matured. When I was young I was given a label which is a shame because everyone should be allowed to make mistakes. This is a part of learning.
“I’ve always got on well with everyone. Perhaps I have made mistakes, but everyone should be given a second chance. In recent years I have improved so much, both on and off the pitch, but the media still focuses too much on my attitude when I was younger.
“Having the confidence of my coach matters a lot to me. With Inzaghi I have a very good understanding. I know that he is counting on me and this allows me to express myself better.”
Menez they when on to articulate his goals for the future.
“When I signed with AC Milan, my aim was always to return to the [French] national team,” he continued. “At the moment France is my one regret and I have great desire to get back into contention.
“It’s a good squad and I want to start a beautiful adventure with the my national team.”
Menez has been capped 24 times for France with his last appearance for Les Bleus coming back in 2013
