The 22-year-old Belgian youth international completed a move to Al-Arabi in the summer, but was immediately sent on loan to the Grifone for the season.
The former Club Brugge star is adamant that he will never play in Qatar despite Al-Arabi holding his rights, and will weigh up his options in the summer.
“My registration is owned by Al-Arabi, but I will never play in Qatar,” Lestienne told Il Secolo XIX.
“The important thing is that I decide my future with my manager, as we’ve always had the last word on which club to choose from.”
Lestienne then spoke on playing in the Serie A, and the differences compared to the Belgian Pro League.
“Tactically speaking, the Serie A is on another level compared to the Belgian league.
“Defending? It’s not my favorite past-time, but I have to do it, otherwise I simply won’t play.”
Lestienne has made 13 appearances for Genoa in the Serie A this season, but only six have been starts.
