Parma coach criticises refereeing performance in Chievo loss

Donadoni Parma

Parma coach Roberto Donadoni has criticised the refereeing performance in his side’s 1-0 loss to Chievo on Wednesday.

Ervin Zukanovic’s lone goal decided the game against the 10 man Ducali, who were reduced after Daniele Galloppa’s sending off, and the former Italy coach expressed his content with the performance.

“Unfortunately, we lost,” he told Sky Sport. “I’m sorry for the defeat but at the same time I’m satisfied with our performance.

“We went down to 10 men against a direct competitor, which made things really hard, even Galloppa’s second yellow is questionable.

“The referee was not at his best, he left us outnumbered for 60 minutes with a poor decision.”

Donadoni then went on to talk about the financial situation at the club, with the Crociati being sold for €1 plus debts for the second time this season.

“The situation of the club? The new ownership have about three or four days to pay the salaries as far as I was told,” he said.

“A lot of people talk a lot but I do not care, the money is there.

“I want to see how the people talking a lot will react if the promises are fulfilled.”

The former AC Milan midfielder then went on to praise his side’s performance once again, as well as saying that he takes responsibility for the side sitting bottom of Serie A, 12 points away from 17th placed Chievo.

“The boys played well despite going a man down and with the pitch in bad condition,” he said.

“There is no desire to give up from any person in the team, the easiest thing would be to think about money and leave; however, talking money is easy.

“I take all responsibility for the state of the side.

“The next game against Roma? We aren’t willing to give up, and we will try to do our best.”

Parma’s visit to the Giallorossi will take place on Sunday February 15.
