Juventus Prioritize Genoa Forward

Over the last few days, Italian media outlets have linked Juventus with moves to both Alessandro Matri and Pablo Osvaldo. It now appears that the Italian champions have made up their minds as to who they are going to sign.

When Sebastian Giovinco signed with MLS side Toronto FC, he was expected to stay with the club until the end of the season and join the Canadian side in the summer. However, in the days that followed the transfer, the bianconeri pushed hard in order for the former Parma man to move right away. Massimiliano Allegri’s side got their wish and la formica Atomica is on his way to North America. Now, Juventus are in the market for a player to replace the 28 year old.

According to Sky, Juventus have decided to sign Genoa forward Alessandro Matri instead of targeting Inter’s Pablo Daniel Osvaldo. The former Roma man is on the outskirts of the first team at Inter after he got into a fight with Mauro Icardi in his side’s game against Juventus. Matri, on the other hand, is on loan to Genoa from Milan and was having a productive season up until his injury. Prior to his injury, the 30 year old scored 7 goals and added 5 assists in 16 appearances for I Grifoni.

Matri previously played for Juventus from 2011 to 2013. In his 83 games at the club, Matri scored 29 goals.
