The 38-year-old came up through the Giallorossi youth academy, making his professional debut during the 1992-93 campaign, and has spent his entire professional career with the capital city club thus far, and De Rossi admits that he has admired the veteran forward since childhood.
De Rossi spoke to Roma TV about his relationship with Totti and the love he feels for his captain, while also commenting on their history together at Roma.
“Totti? I’m one of his biggest fans, I love him so much, as much as the Curva Sud,” said the 31-year-old. “As a child I had watched him from afar, I was delighted every time I was able to watch him play.
“We have two different personalities, we often disagree and we’ve even had some good fights a couple of times, but we return to loving each other as brothers as soon as it’s over.
“The affection that binds me to him is the most I have for someone in Trigoria. We’ve been together at Roma for 15 years, he’s a stable part of my life.
“To talk about him as a player, he should stay here for more time, he does amazing things at 38 years of age. When I speak of privileges, I speak of him.
“He’s the type of player who will never be born again, he’s one of a kind.”
