Lazio coach Stefano Pioli has urged his side to be consistent across entire matches, if they are to beat AC Milan on Saturday.
The Biancocelesti sit fifth in Serie A after last week’s defeat at home to Napoli, and take on Filippo Inzaghi’s Rossoneri are in 10th and are on a run of four games without a win.
“We have to play with consistency for the whole 90 minutes, we lost at the San Siro in August when we were on the beginning of our journey- but now we cannot afford the same naivety,” the Italian told his pre-match press conference.
“After the Napoli game we are more aware of how important it is to be potent in attack, and we know that it means nothing to be in the top five now, but at the end of the season.
Lazio signed Sporting CP defender Mauricio on loan in the week, and Pioli discussed the defensive situation and the Brazilian’s chances of playing.
“He is player that we were following as we needed to shore up our defence. I think he can play but may lack fitness, we will assess him on Saturday morning.
“Stefan de Vrij and Lucas Biglia will also be assessed in the morning in the final training session- we are optimistic with those two.”
The 49-year-old Biancocelesti coach then had his say on the state of Milan, with some corners of the press designating the Diavolo a club in crisis: “I do not know and frankly I do not care.”
