The 50-year-old was extremely successful during his first stint as Nerazzurri boss from 2004-08, leading the San Siro outfit to a number of trophies including three Serie A titles, and he admits that he’s now up for the challenge of rebuilding the team despite previous plans of avoiding a return to the Milan side.
Mancini spoke to the Corriere della Sera about his mission to lead Inter to success once again and commented on the controversial career of Mario Balotelli, who played under him in Milan and at Manchester City.
“I’m here because I’m convinced that Inter can get back to where we once were,” said the tactician, who currently has Inter sitting in ninth place with 25 points.
“Next season we will fight for the Scudetto. At first I didn’t want to come back, but then I accepted the challenge because I liked it.
“My father had also told me that I should make my return.
“Balotelli? I feel sorry for him, he’s a good player and a good person. But if he doesn’t wake up then he’s likely to end up the same way as Adriano.”
