The 28-year-old had been previously linked with a move to the Partenopei ahead of the 2014-15 campaign and was apparently on the verge of reuniting with former Reds boss Rafa Benitez until negotiations fell through at the last minute, with rumours now suggesting that he could be leaning toward a transfer to the Nerazzurri instead.
According to Il Mattino, Napoli would be looking to secure the Brazilian on loan from Liverpool for the remainder of the season with the option to permanently sign him in June, which would only be available if they can manage to earn a top three finish in the Serie A.
Lucas, whose current contract with Liverpool is set to expire in June 2017, has been in top form as of late and has made 12 Premier League appearances this season thus far.
