The 23-year-old Switzerland international had been heavily linked with a move away from Bayern Munich as he has been struggling to break into the starting eleven of the German giants and in the end Shaqiri opted to chose Inter, although there were other offers open to him.
“I also had offers from England and Germany but my choice was to join Inter,” he told the press at his official unveiling as an Inter player.
“I spoke with Roberto Mancini on the phone and he told me his plans for the team and it convinced me.
“The choice was clear, the idea of playing in a new league really fascinated me.
“Inter are a hugely successful club with huge plans so I did not have to speak with anyone about the club.
“My brother looked at the various options and Juventus was an option, however we felt Inter was the best choice.
“Also my brother has an excellent relationship with Piero Ausilio.”
Shaqiri also spoke of his lack of playing time at Bayern.
“At Bayern, I wasn’t totally happy and it was clear for anyone to see.
“I need to play consistently to prove my worth to the team.
“I am hungry for success and I have a good feeling about Inter.”
