Stramaccioni: Udinese result against Cagliari will be crucial

Andrea Stramaccioni - Inter Udinese boss Andrea Stramaccioni believes that his team’s upcoming Serie A clash with Cagliari will be one of the most important matches of the season and admits that it will be crucial to earn a positive result.

The Zebrette will be hosting the Isolani, who will have to first take on Parma in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday, at the Stadio Friuli on January 18 and the tactician is confident in his side’s ability to do well against their opponents, but understands that Gianfranco Zola’s men will be hungry for points in order to avoid relegation.

Stramaccioni spoke during a press conference on Tuesday about the match against Cagliari and expressed his positive outlook for Udinese this season as they continue to mould into a successful team.

“From the technical aspect we’ve never had any doubt, this is a team that should attain salvation and we must only speak of this in regards to our objectives,” said the 39-year-old.

“Also because, as previously mentioned, this is the year zero for the restart of a new cycle, the start to something more important.

“On this point, our ideas are very clear. We know that things can change, as things usually do in football.

“Now we wait for the game with Cagliari, which, in my opinion, is the most important game since my arrival here.

“We know the players and we know the environment. The Cagliari are ready to make a comeback and do well, they do not deserve their current ranking.

“It will be a crucial match and the entire team knows this.”
