Atalanta, Baselli not going to Milan

Atalanta director Pierpaolo Marino spoke with Gazzetta.it and declared Daniele Baselli is off the market.

Milan has been in hot pursuit of Atlanta midfielder Daniele Baselli, with rumours of an imminent agreement of a loan for the rest of the season and obligation to buy in the summer. However, Baselli will remain with Atalanta the rest of the season and in the summer the negotiations can resume.

“We had a meeting with (Adriano) Galliani and (Antonio) Percassi to discuss Baselli. At this time, we do not want to sell our best players and for this reason we will postpone these discussions (till the summer). We have a moral obligation to continue this discussion with Milan.”

Milan have good relations with Atalanta, having negotiated for the acquisition of Giacomo Bonaventura in the summer. Marino also hinted at a possibility, had Milan pursued it, to acquire Baselli right away if they paid the right price. He stated how things are bad economically for Italian football as many teams not making investments, preferring to get players on loan.
