The high court in Naples has postponed the final verdict on the “Calciopoli” sporting fraud case that has haunted Italian football since 2006.
A verdict was expected today on the final review of the case which has gone through both sporting and civil justice courts, and been reevaluated as new evidence has come to light in the course of the trial, particularly involving the case of Luciano Moggi’s accusations of exclusive contact with the referee designators.
The judge in Naples, though, now in possession of 72 more pages of evidence than were ever admitted to the original trial, has decided to postpone the final extraordinary hearing until March 23.
