Muriel and Coda in limbo. Udinese: “Sampdoria wasted our time”

Udinese sporting director Cristiano Giaretta says that the Muriel-Coda kerfuffle with Sampdoria was never official and has caused only discombobulation for the players involved

The negotiation regarding Luis Muriel is becoming absurd: at first a normal negotiation on price, with a €12 million agreement for the the player and Andrea Coda, then the medical which identified a problem with the Colombian’s physical fitness, which Sampdoria’s medical staff evaluated to be graver than what Udinese medical staff’s evaluation.

Currently the situation is stalled with the player in limbo: according to Udinese the deal is off, while the player is staying back in Genoa to try to work out a deal with Sampdoria president Ferrero.

Udinese sporting director Cristiano Giaretta told mondoudinese.it that the club never made official the sale of Muriel and Coda, “unfortunately Muriel’s injury was considered to be worse according to Sampdoria’s medical staff than our evaluation. Therefore we have taken this under advisement and have recalled the players to Udine”.

“Clearly, we’re disappointment because the players have been totally discombobulated this week. Now they must resume their course, unfortunately we only wasted time with this matter”, Giaretta stated.
