Earlier this morning there were reports of Antonio Cassano putting in his notice to Parma.
It was said from reports circulating from SportMediaset and La Gazzetta dello Sport, that Cassano is taking legal action against the Club due to 6 months of unpaid wages that are owed to him.
Reports may have surfaced due to Parma facing some financial turmoil in recent months, as we have seen Tomasso Ghirard’s sell the Club to Rezart Taci in hope of repaying some of Parma’s previous debts.
Parma released a statement on their official website stating:
“With regards to the news circulated in the Press according to Antonio Cassano sending a ‘formal notice’ to the club, Parma FC clarifies that the news has no foundation.”
“Antonio Cassano simply requested the payment of the sums owed to him, but did not formalise any ‘formal notice’, nor established a deadline for payment, nor announced a decision to take specific legal action.”
“It is therefore a simple invitation to settle the payment, totally unusual, self-serving, and beyond that, absolutely useless.”
If, in fact, Cassano were to leave Parma due to these salary allegations, he could leave the Club for free. According to speculation, Cassano could leave for nothing if he asks for his contract to be terminated, while Parma could also cancel the contract without going through legal implications.
