Reports suggest the agent of Juventus striker Carlos Tevez will be in Turin next week, to discuss his client’s contract with the Italian champions and possibly a future extension.
Recent developments had the Argentine bomber planning to see out his contract with the Italian champions until 2016 and then returning to his homeland to finish his career at hometown club Boca Juniors. New rumors, however, suggest that Tevez could be prepared to extend his contract with Juventus.
Tevez himself has been cautious on the issue, saying last Sunday that “I can’t tell lies to the fans, and I’ve already said that right now my intention is not to renew my contract.” But the player’s agent Kia Joorabchian, interviewed by Turin sports daily Tuttosport, prefers to leave the question open: “At this point it’s impossible to say what will happen a year and a half from now, and it’s impossible to make predictions. It’s not even for sure that he would return immediately to Boca in Argentina, even if he does leave Juve after 18 months.” Tuttosport reports that Joorabchian is expected to arrive in Turin this week, and speculates that Tevez’s future plans may be being discussed.
Joorabchian continued: “The issue of the contract will be approached by Carlos in a year, and not before. At that point, we’ll see. Carlitos told me that right now he just wants to focus on the Scudetto, on the Champions League, and everything he wants to win with Juventus. Because Tevez really wants to win everything: with two more seasons here in the black and white stripes, it’s natural that he would dream of the Champions. He has told me that he’s very happy in Turin and so is his family. He’s in his element here at Juventus, he gets along well with the coach, his teammates, the directors. And he’s beloved by the fans, which is an important thing for him as well.”
