The American-born Italy international has spent the entire season so far on the sidelines, but there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel for the 27-year-old.
“The visit to Colorado has confirmed that the recovery is progressing well and according to the initial timetable,” said Rossi’s agent Andrea Pastorello when speaking to Firenze Viola.
“I do not wish to state a date for his return, but I can say that the road – although still relatively long – is now downhill. We have left the worst behind.
“I’m personally confident of witnessing Rossi on the field at some point this season.”
Despite Pastorello’s reluctance to set a date, the club’s official website proclaimed March as the expected time for Rossi to resume his career following the latest surgery he underwent in September.
Rossi missed the World Cup in Brazil due to the knee problem that has kept him out of action since January, before suffering a further setback in September when a routine examination showed further damage requiring another operation.
