Tevez: “Juve is a a tighly knit group”

Juventus striker Carlitos Tevez spoke to media ahead of the scintillating encounter at Juventus Stadium tomorrow, where the Old Lady will host Real Madrid

As work progressed in Vinovo training centre today, the Juventus boss Max Allegri and his striker Carlitos Tevez held the ritualistic press conference ahead of tomorrow’s match in Turin where the Serie A champions elect will host Real Madrid (20:45 CET). Here is what Tevez said, as reported by TuttoJuve.com:

Did you expect a semifinal against Real Madrid?

“I didn’t expect a semifinal. I expected to win a scudetto and to fight as best we could in the Champions League. When Juventus came to me they asked me to do some important work. Allegri, Agnelli and the entire management teamhave shown to be very serious about their work and of wanting to win the Champions League”.

How did it feel to see Boca beat River Plate 2-0?

“As a fan of Boca I’m happy because we won therefore the celebration is double: first for the league and then for Boca’s win. I slept well and happy”.
There are great expectations in Argentina for you and in Cile for Vidal. You play well together. What kind of a game will it be?

“Arturo is in good shape, he has rediscovered his self confidence with the goals that he scored lately. I hope we can make a difference tomorrow”.
Brazil’s eyes are on you. With Rooney and Ronaldo in 2008 you formed a formidable trio in Champions. You’ll have Cristiano in front of you tomorrow. Did you speak to him? How do you see him?

“No I haven’t spoken to Cristiano. Tomorrow I’ll see him outside the dressing room we’ll speak a little, but when the match starts he’ll be an adversary. It’s true, we won a lot together, but it’s a semifinal where he plays for Madrid and I play for Juve and I hope to have a good game”.

Do you think that Morata is ready for a match like this one?
“Yes, I belive that Alvaro has grown quite a bit in the last 4-5 months has gained self-confidence and is ready to play a game of this level. I think he’s a great player and will surely not feel pressure”.

Pirlo said yesterday that if he wins the Champions League with Juventus he’ll leave right after. Will it be the same for you? Also was the violin celebration a message to Garcia?

“Regarding the first question, I would rather not talk about this today because tomorrow we have an all-important semifinal. On the violin, no, my daughter likes the violin that’s why I celebrated that way”.
What do you think about Real Madrid and their recent injuries?

“I think that it will be a difficult semifinal but an open one. Both games will be hard fought. The best team will win. I don’t think that there are clear favourites. Those who will make the fewest mistakes will win”.

What did you find at Juventus that made you return to such form?

“The club transmitted a great deal of trust towards me, then the manager, then my teammates. This made me feel as an important part of the group. When a player feels important they have additional responsibility and must give a little more. I have given them everything I had, I’ve played at the best of my abilities which makes me happy”.
What’s Juve’s secret? What can lead her to victory?

“The secret of this team is a tightly-knit group. There’s a group of players that respects the history of this club, and the jersey that they wear. Therefore, we won the league first, now we’re in the Champions League semifinals, and we’re also in the Italian Cup final. The group is the secret of this team”.
