Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri speaks to media ahead of the scintillating encounter at Juventus Stadium tomorrow, where the Old Lady will host Real Madrid
As work progressed in Vinovo training centre today, the Juventus boss and his striker Carlitos Tevez held the ritualistic press conference ahead of tomorrow’s match in Turin where the Serie A champions elect will host Real Madrid (20:45 CET). Here is what Allegri said, as reported by TuttoJuve.com:
We chatted with Pirlo yesterday, who said that chances to advance to the final are 50/50. What’s your opinion?
“I agree, it’s a semifinal and whilst they are defending champions and may have a small advantage, it’s not a semifinal where we have nothing to lose. We have to be cognizant of our accomplishments thus far and above all to play our chances to the maximum of our abilities knowing full well that we have a great team in front of us, with great champions”.
What worries you about Real Madrid. What must Juve do?
“First off we’re talking about a Champions League semifinal, therefore all teams are of the highest quality. When you play these games you must try to do great things both offensively and defensively. I don’t believe that both legs will finish 0-0. Therefore, we must excel on the offensive”.
Ancelotti said that the in Champions League who has courage wins, and who is fearful loses. This can be an invite to play an open match. Do you accept this invite?
“Not only is Carlo very good, he’s very sly. His results show this. I respect him as a coach and a person, but mostly for his results because someone who has won in Italy, in England, in France and in Spain must have significant qualities”.
Does Real Madrid lose more without Modric or Juve without Pogba?
“It’s too bad, because I would have preferred to have both take part of this match. We hope to have Pogba back for the return leg”.
Ancelotti said that he’ll defend with four men and that Sergio Ramos might play in midfield. What clue can you give us?
“To make you happy, I’ll tell you: Ancelotti gave you four, and I’ll give you another four”.
You’re not the vengeful type but after having conquered the Champions League semifinal and a scudetto that seemed unthinkable what do you feel like telling those who doubted you?
“Absolutely nothing. What matters in football are results. At the beginning of the season people can tell you many things, and rightly so, but what remains at the end are the results. I’m very proud of my boys and I must thank the club for what we’ve done thus far”.
