Atletico Madrid’s Miranda to join Inter

A.C. Milan rumored target Miranda, from Atletico Madrid, appears to be on his way to Serie A as reports indicate he has agreed to join Inter

Brazilian international Miranda has been an important figure for Simeone and Atletico Madrid’s success over the past few seasons. However, it looks as if a change is in the works for the 30-year old central defender as the player will reject interest from England in favor of Italian football.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Inter and the La Liga outfit have agreed to the transfer of Joao Miranda, sending the defender to the nerazzurri. The figures of the move are around €12m plus €3m in bonuses.

The Rossoneri were reportedly targeting the Brazilian but with the focus of Galliani being on the deals for Jackson Martinez, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Geoffrey Kondogbia, it will be their hated rival that gets the signature of the former São Paulo man.

For Atletico Madrid last season, Miranda took a step back in the eyes of many. He did appear in 36 matches across all competitions, however it seems as if Diego Simeone has his eyes set on making young 20-year old José Giménez the vice-Godin for next season.

Miranda will be the second defender the club has signed in this young mercato season, the first being Colombian international Jeison Murillo who will make the move official next month from Granada.
