Juventus captain Gianluigi Buffon was quizzed after the celebration at the training camp in Villa Perosa. La Gazzetta dello Sport asked Buffon to comment on the upcoming campaign and how the changes will affect their chances.
“In certain aspects it’s been a different experience, after four years many things have changed, many players have left but also many good ones have came, butt with a knowledge of our football and fellow teammates.
“We only need a bit of patience. I don’t know whether this team is more or less stronger than the ones of the last few years, but there’s one thing I don’t have any doubts on: it has a great future.
“We took the best players that were available, I don’t know if we’ll win quickly but I believe in the next five years we’ll get back to fighting to win three trophies in a year again. The Bianconera management has to courage to dare. You can’t always win forever, when you change things you always have risks, this however doesn’t mean we’ll peacefully abdicate the title.
“We would like to continue to dream and write more pages in Juve’s history, but we know that it will be more difficult. We of the old guard we just show the field and in training like we are accustomed to, and I believe that this is the best way to set a good example
“If one is not a fool, they come right in sync with us, also because we are a great group. There are all the ingredients to rebuild a winning cycle. Of the new signings Dybala has captivated me quickly, with Mandzukic he understood quick the European depth [of the squad], and also Neto is a top signing.
“Zaza is struggling the most with training, but he can become an important weapon for us. Rome is more enhanced this season, Milan have to fear for the radical turn made by getting a coach like Mihajlovic. Sarri’s Napoli makes me curious as well. If the fans support his football he’ll do well. I believe that it’s more difficult to make it to the finale of the Champions League than it is to win the tricolore.
“But I would only exchange a Champions League finale with the Scudetto if it meant winning the finale for sure.”
