Bacca: “Difficult match against a tough Empoli”

One of Milan’s newest signings this summer broke the deadlock in the first half. Carlos Bacca scored his first goal for the club, helping the Rossoneri win 2-1 over Empoli at the San Siro

Carlos Bacca, the €30m transfer from Sevilla, scored his first goal of the season with Milan which also happened to be the club’s first as well in the young 2015-16 Serie A campaign. A beautifully delivered ball from fellow frontman Luiz Adriano allowed the Colombian to explode through the Empoli defense and onto goal.

The Rossoneri, in rather unconvincing fashion, sealed the tough 2-1 win at home against Marco Giampaolo’s side. After the win, Bacca spoke about the result, Adriano and the newly acquired Mario Balotelli:

Carlos Bacca, according to Mediaset:

“It was a difficult game against a tough opponent such as Empoli. We know we have to improve but we approached the match with the right attitude. Empoli pressed our midfielders, Bertolacci and Suso suffered, but nevertheless we got the victory.”

Milan’s number 70 also addressed the competition for the striker positions at the club with Luiz Adriano and now Balotelli in the mix for the roles. Bacca:

“Balotelli? There’s a healthy competition, and the important thing is that in the end Milan can benefit from that competition. An attacking trident with Luiz Adriano and Balotelli? We’ll see, those decisions are up to the coach.”

Bacca did not get an array of opportunities in the final third against Empoli as the midfield continued to struggle throughout the entire match. However, his movement off the ball, work rate and energy didn’t go to waste with the goal early in the first half.
