Fiorentina get their first loss of the season versus Torino 3-1. Paulo Sousa discussed what went wrong in his post match press conference.
Fiorentina was punished for sitting back and holding on to their 1-0 lead, instead of attacking and trying to get a second goal. Last week they dictated the play and took the game to Milan. Today they were less organized and a patient Torino took advantage of their mistakes and punished them dearly.
Here is what Paulo Sousa had to say:
“Torino never gave up. We must have better equilibrium. We have to get better. We have various adversaries that always give us problems. Rossi? The future will be bright. Very important player for us. Has been training for the past month continuously, but hasn’t played in like two years.”
Rossi playing at 100% is going to provide la viola with arguably one of the most feared strikers in Serie A when playing to his full potential. Sousa also discussed Fiorentina’s breakdown and lack of patience.
“I believe in the second half we had more of a mental letdown than a physical one. On several occasions we tried to force the play when it wasn’t necessary and we gave Torino some hope. With more intensity we could have closed the match, we didn’t and they came back.”
The international break will give Sousa time for reflection and prepare for Fiorentina’s next match against Genoa.
