Juventus Crowned Coppa Italia Champions And Earn Silver Star

Today, Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus took on Lazio in the Coppa Italia final and beat them by a score of 2-1 to win their 10th Coppa Italia in their history.

The game started at a neck break pace as Lazio pressed Juventus for all they were worth. The biancocelesti got their reward early as Stefan Radu fired a header past Marco Storari off a free kick. However, Allegri’s side would find an equalizer a few minutes later through a defender of their own. Juventus captain on the night, Giorgio Chiellini, slotted him expertly past a helpless Etrit Berisha off a perfectly weighted Pirlo free kick. With the score tied, both teams carved out nice chances throughout the game but extra time was needed. In extra time, Alessandro Matri, who is on loan from Genoa, picked up Tevez’ rebound off the defender and side-footed it into the net off Berisha’s hands. That would be enough on the night as Juventus put an end to their 20 year Coppa Italia drought and earned their silver star.

The bianconeri’s win today means that they are the first team to win ten Coppa Italias in their history. It is also the first time they won the double (league and Coppa) since 1995. Now, the only thing that remains unconquered by Allegri’s Juve is the Champions League. With that being said, their date with destiny awaits them on June 6th in Berlin against Barcelona.
