With two fixtures remaining in the 2014-15 Serie A Campaign, Milan are already looking ahead to summer and the opening of the transfer window.
One key player that is on the radar, José Mauri of Parma, to help rebuild the rossoneri midfield. The 19 year old has been rated one of Italy’s top young talents and has been already been linked with a number of transfer moves this summer. Numerous reports have mentioned that Chelsea, Juventus and Roma are also interested in the midfielder.
Mauri’s agent, Dino Zampacorta spoke to MilanNews earlier this week:
“Milan are strongly interested in the lad. Not just now, but for the past few months. Do they have an advantage? Definitely. It’s a matter of respect for the rossoneri. We’ve rejected higher salaries because he [Mauri] wants to play. Milan need several midfielders and he could be one of them.”
Parma has had its own struggles to figure out this season, with their recent claim of bankruptcy. Unless a potential buyer saves the Club, then Mauri has a contract until June 30th, 2016. Zampacorta also mentioned that if nobody steps up to buy the club, then all the players will be released.
With the bargaining power of Parma fading away, some estimates on the bids for Mauri have been in the range of 10 million euros. His current market value according to Transfermarkt.com is ranked at 4 million euros. If Milan can snag Mauri without a previous contract from Parma and guarantee the player a spot in the line-up, we may see him in a red and black jersey for the 2015-16 season.
The young Italian-Argentine has scored 2 goals for Parma in 31 appearances this season and has previously represented both national the Italian and Argentine national sides at the youth level.
