Aurelio De Laurentiis is ready to bring in fresh blood to the coaching box at the San Paolo
Napoli’s 2014/15 campaign wouldn’t be described as disastrous, but it is anything but a success. The failure to qualify for this season’s Champions League campaign at Bilbao, currently on the outside looking in for qualifying for next season’s Champions League and the debacle at Kyiv, may be all too much to handle for the Spaniard.
Despite this, Benitez has been at the helm for 109 games, winning 60 of them in his time at Napoli, including winning last season’s Coppa Italia and then the subsequent Supercoppa against Juventus.
However, Sky, is reporting that the loss to Dnipro was the final straw and Benitez will not be back for the next campaign. In fact, De Laurentiis has gone all out for Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, who is also expected to be leaving his current club. Contacts have been ongoing for the Serbian tactician.
If the attempts to lure the all time leading set piece goalscorer in Italy, Sinisa Mihajlovic, Napoli’s backup plan is Unai Emery who coaches Sevilla, who are in the Europa League finale.
