There have been rumours of Pippo Inzaghi’s imminent sacking throughout Milan’s difficult season, however he managed to remain to finish the season. However it seems like Inzaghi’s dismissal in the summer is inevitable as owner Silvio Berlusconi cited a difference of philosophy when it comes to the youth.
According to repubblica.it, the relationship between the two has reached a turning point.
Berlusconi was direct in his criticism of Inzaghi while speaking in Saronno during a visit to a fan group.
“Pippo is doing well with the group, but naturally we’ve had different opinions. We’ll have a discussion about his future at the right time.”
Milan is having one of the worst seasons in the Berlusconi era and the hands-on owner didn’t hide his displeasure in regards to one of the reasons why.
“I like several young players from our youth squads and we’ve asked in vain for them to be promoted to the first squad. However this request has been ignored.”
It is rather strange how a coach who moved up from the youth ranks to the senior team, has not given any playing time to the players he used to coach. Furthermore, having won the Viareggio Cup, one would think there were some bright prospects that deserved a chance to show what they can do with the senior team.
When there were four games left in the season and nothing to play for, Inzaghi said he would give some playing time to the youth but so far they’ve only watched games from the bench.
