Following his breakout year with Lazio this season, Felipe Anderson has been attracting interest from all over Europe with many top clubs vying for his signature.
According to Nicolo Schira, Manchester United have decisively moved for Felipe Anderson and Lazio president Claudio Lotito is reportedly entertaining the idea of negotiating a potential transfer with the English giants. The Brazilian talent is said to be at the top of Louis Van Gaal’s summer wish list to reinforce their attack ahead of the new season. The Red Devils have closely monitored the attacking midfielder over the last few months and have regularly sent scouts to watch him play with Lazio.
The offer from Van Gaal’s side is reportedly no less than 50 million euros as the player’s massive potential is something that interests them greatly. The player’s value has grown exponentially over the last season with the Lazio man putting in some top performances. Lotito and Tare had signed Felipe Anderson for 7.5 million euros in July of 2013 from Santos. The increase in his value should come as no surprise to anyone who has watched his contributions to Pioli’s Lazio this season. In December, when he became FA7 and became a regular in Lazio’s starting eleven, the biancocelesti went on a roll and picked up many positive results in a row. This sudden rise to form of Felipe Anderson and as a result, Lazio, has propelled the club into a Champions League spot for the next season. The player’s consistency combined with his technical ability has peaked the interest of United’s management as they are after a player of his mould. This move makes more sense when taking into consideration Angel Di Maria’s possible departure. The former Real Madrid man is being closely followed by Bayern Munich but the Bavarians are also said to be targeting Atletico’s Antoine Griezmann. Another team that have shown interest in Di Maria both recently and in the past is Laurent Blanc’s Paris Saint-Germain. It is very likely that the Argentine international may leave Old Trafford after just one season with the club. This would leave a gap that needs to be filled in attack for the English side. With that being said, Manchester United will have to act fast as they are not the only ones who rate the midfielder. Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid are all targeting the player as well.
Lazio’s plans for Felipe Anderson will largely depend on their qualification for next year’s edition of the Champions League. Should they gain direct access to the Champions League by finishing second in the league table, they will receive a large sum of money. Lotito plans on using this to his advantage when negotiating and may even decide not to sell the player abroad just yet. In addition to this, Felipe Anderson has recently renewed his contract with the club until 2020 and has shown clear signs of wanting to stay especially with Champions League football incoming. Due to this, Lotito is unwilling to sell as he believes that his value can only increase with the Brazilian playing in Europe’s elite competition. Manchester United’s attempts for the player, however, have only intensified and will only continue as the transfer window moves forward. Along with Juventus’ Paul Pogba, Felipe Anderson is the Serie A’s brightest talent to emerge. On Wednesday, calcio fans are in for a treat as both talents will go head to head in the final of the Coppa Italia.
