Foggia were hit with multiple sanctions for the behavior of their fans during last season’s Lega Pro Playoff Final against Pisa.
The Sporting Judge of Lega Pro came down hard on Foggia due to the incidents that occurred against Pisa in the Playoff Final, which saw Gattuso’s men secure promotion to Serie B. Players, personnel and Gennaro Gattuso were struck with objects thrown from the Foggia fans, forcing the game to be interrupted.
As per Republicca, Foggia are to play the first five home games of the 2016/2017 Lega Pro season behind closed doors and were fined €15,000. Bench boss Roberto De Zerbi was handed a two-match touchline ban while players Cristian Agnelli, Gianluca Di Chiari and Antonio Vacca were each given one-game bans. Pisa were not fully off the hook however Gennaro Gattuso was handed a one-game ban (to be served in Serie B) for provocative and offensive behavior towards the local Foggia supporters.
