Pisa and the city of Empoli have agreed to terms to allow the newly promoted side to play at the Castellani in 2016/17.
The neo-promoted club coached by Gennaro Gattuso will play at least a part of their season at the Empoli stadium, away from their traditional Arena Garibaldi.
The Arena Garibaldi has 25,000 seats but has only been approved to hold about half of that sum due to concerns about the facilities safety. The club and city are hoping that Pisa can play the majority of their home games in Pisa. Repairs and upgrades are needed to make the stadium fully safe. Work is expected to be ongoing through the first half of the season.
Empoli and Pisa are both in the Tuscan region of Italy and the stadiums are separated by about 27 miles (45 kilometers).
