Gonzalo Higuain Set To Join Juventus From Napoli

Gonzalo Higuain appears to be headed out of Naples as a move to Juventus nears.

Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta and Aurelio De Laurentiis both shot down rumors that the capocannoniere winning striker Gonzalo Higuain would join Juventus. There were discussions last week over a deal, but talks have cooled over a move. Now, it appears that the Bianconeri will add yet another star this summer to already dominant squad.

According to Sky Sports’ Fabrizio Romano, the Argentine striker had his medicals yesterday in Madrid. Romano has indicated that Higuain will sign a contract until 2020 with Juventus, earning €7.5m per season.

Last week, Marotta had said at the moment, the club has no intentions of paying the release clause for Higuain. However, since De Laurentiis elected to bypass the player plus cash approach from Juventus, it now seems as if Turin-based club will in fact pay the whopping €94m release clause, paid in two installments over two years.
