Monopoli were on thin ice last season and narrowly avoided relegation to Serie D via the play-out. In the eyes of one of their midfielders, they will be tested with a flurry of tough competitors this season which will keep them on their toes all campaign long.
Speaking to Monopoli’s offical website, via TuttoLegaPro, midfielder Davide Balestrero believes his club can be quite the wildcard in their group:
The group will feature a great deal of competition but if it is good competition, we can only do well in the group. It is a reason for us to give it our all. We must convince the fans with our performances to fill the stadium. Work is fundamental to do well on the pitch, with the right spirt and attitude. We are clearly not a big club but we can be the loose cannon of the group. We will aim to get results everywhere, playing our brand of football.
