The Italian-Romanian has officially signed with the Championship club.
In a statement released on the club’s official website, the Reds confirmed the acquisition of the Napoli player.
“Nottingham Forest have completed the loan signing of Nicolao Dumitru from Napoli while Mustapha Carayol has signed a permanent deal at The City Ground.
“Dumitru has arrived on Trentside on a season-long loan deal while Carayol, who represents Gambia at international level, has a signed a two-year contract with The Reds.
“24-year-old Dumitru, who was born in Sweden but has represented Italy at Under 19 and Under 20 level, has joined up with Forest for the remainder of the 2016-17 season.”
