A.C. Milan backup keeper Diego Lopez is ready to make the return back to Spain on the last day of the summer mercato.
Since being benched by Gianluigi Donnarumma, things have been difficult for veteran keeper Diego Lopez. His playing time greatly diminished and now cemented to a bench role with the 17-year old Donnarumma taking full control of the number one spot in net. However, the Spaniard looks set to make a return home to Spain in search of a starting role.
The latest from Gianluca Di Marzio has the former Real Madrid man making the return back to La Liga, joining on with Espanyol.
Earlier in the summer, it seemed as if Lopez would be the backup to Thibaut Courtois at Chelsea, but because Asmir Begovic stayed put, the door for Premier League football shut on the 34-year old. Now, a solution has been found for all parties. Diego Lopez heads home.
Arsenal’s Ramsey and Chelsea’s Fabregas are on Milan’s radar
