After a night of tears, the Azzurri were given a heroes sending off back to Italy.
The Italian fans gave the team a warm reception as the players boarded the bus at the ‘Casa Italia’ in Montpellier. Emanuele Giaccherini exited the bus to take photos with the fans who had been calling for him. Meanwhile Buffon was out in the crowd, literally hugging a few of the more emotional supporters. ‘Gigi’ was visibly moved by the interaction and so were the fans who had seen him lose his state of composure last night after the final penalty went in
