The Blues are close to making their second signing of the summer.
Napoli are close to conceding defeat and offloading promising defender Kalidou Koulibaly. A month ago, the Senegalese defender told reporters that he thought he might leave, and was greeted with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis’ fury.
Negotiations were ongoing for several weeks, but Chelsea were hesitant on the figure, now they have no doubts. They will reach Napoli’s valuation of €35 million, per multiple English sources.
Koulibaly has undergone a renaissance under Maurizio Sarri this past year and became a top defender in Italy, which is no easy task.
Antonio Conte has already been gifted Michy Batshuayi, and now it seems soon he’ll be given an experienced Serie A defender, which is something he has requested.
There are some details to be solved regarding his image rights, but with the proper amount of money, this should be resolved as well. Arsenal had been in the race for the Senegal international, however they elected not to further pursue him due to the steep upfront figure.
