Torino Loan Out Diop To Viterbese

The Senegalese forward will spend another season in Lega Pro to further aid his development.

Coming off an impressive season in Lega Pro Girone C with Juve Stabia where he scored 8 goals in 15 appearances, Abou Diop will once again be returning to the third tier on loan from Torino. As reported by Corriere dello Sport, the Senegalese striker will join newly promoted Viterbese on a one-year dry loan. This move will mark six loan stint in five seasons. He is now officially available to train with Giovanni Cornacchini’s squad for the pre-season.

The 22-year old is a product of Torino’s youth system, having been promoted from the Primavera squad in 2012/2013 where he appeared in three games for the Granata. The previous season, he would light up the Primavera Girone A, scoring 9 goals in 14 games. He would go on to make his inaugural bow in Serie B during his first loan stint at Juve Stabia during the 2013/2014 season but would later end up at Crotone for the second half of the season, only collecting an assist in nine games. Two more loan stints would occur in 2014/2015 as he split his time between Ternana in Serie B and Matera in Lega Pro. The latter is where he would regain his scoring touch, notching 5 goals in 17 games. Finally, he spent the first half of last season on-loan at Lecce, appearing in 13 combined games in Lega Pro and the Coppa Italia Lega Pro, scoring once. His breakout would happen with a return to Juve Stabia in January, where he would record his best goal scoring season with a first-team squad.
