Fiorentina moves to the top of the Serie A table after defeating Inter 4-1 yesterday at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
Inter came into the match full of confidence having started the season winning five games in a row and only conceding one goal. However, the nerazzurri were penalized for a lacklustre start and Fiorentina took full advantage scoring three quick goals in the first 23 minutes. Just a few minutes later, la viola got a bonus as Joao Miranda was sent off in the 31st minute.
With the win Fiorentina moves up to first place for the first time since 1998, when they moved up to first after matchday 20. Man of the match Nikola Kalinic becomes the second Fiorentina player to score a hat trick versus Inter.
Paulo Sousa praised his players for their performance.
“Being here and working with this group is wonderful. We have continuity, playing well at the back as well as up front. There are teams which have invested a lot and have different goals than us, but I am not going to hold back and I continue to say that we can face anyone to win. We have the quality to face every match knowing we can win.”
