Player Focus: Allan Marques Loureiro

Much has been made about Allan’s arrival at Napoli over the summer mercato.  Here are his statistics so far, his career path and his impact on every game he plays for Napoli:

Career Path: Allan Marques Loureiro, or more familiarly known as Allan, has jumped on the scene quite a bit.  The Brazilian midfielder started his career off in Uruguay on Deportivo Maldonado, where he spent three years.  The whole time he was at Deportivo Maldonado, he was loaned out to Vasco Da Gama in Brazil, thus why he has no games played for the Uruguayan club.  At Vasco, he really made his mark.  After several performances for the Brazilian team, Allan was evaluated by Italian club Udinese, who then completed a 3 million euro transfer. He then spent three years at the club.  Allan yet again created enough noise around him to earn himself a transfer in the 2015 summer mercato to Napoli for 12 million euros.  Allan has already cemented a starting place on the Partenopei and is arguably their best performing midfielder at the moment.

Career Statistics:  As previously stated, Allan did not play a single game for Uruguayan club Deportivo Maldonado, therefore,  we look closely at his time in Brazil and Italy.  For Vasco da Gama, Allan appeared 52 times and did not score once however, he won the Copa do Brasil in 2011.  For Udinese, Allan appeared 104 times in three years and only scored once.  Lastly, for Napoli, Allan has 4 performances and already scored 2 times, once against Empoli and once against Lazio.

Impact:  Allan is a very capable midfielder.  He posseses a lot of power and enormous amounts of skill.  He is known for his hard tackling and precise long and short passing.  He is most effective at times when the match gets very heated.  He seems to feed off of that energy and find the power to work harder and harder.  For Napoli fans, they must be delighted to have a player of his caliber at the helm.  Already putting in scintillating performances for the Vesuviani.  Most recently, against mighty Juventus.  Allan put in a man of the match type performance on Sunday at the Stadio San Paolo in Napoli’s 2-1 win over the Bianconeri.

It goes without say that judging by Allan’s recent performances for Napoli, he should be called up by the Brazilian National Team.  Allan has only appeared 3 times for the Brazilian U-20 side in 2011.  Napoli look to have found themselves a gem, and if that gem keeps healthy, who knows where Napoli can end up this season.  One can only hope…
