Thursday’s Europa League match between Napoli and the Danish champions was total domination from start to finish.
Napoli started the game off in controlled fashion, looking for an early breakthrough. They had sniffs of an early goal, however came to no avail. They got the breakthrough in the 13th minute from Omar El Kaddouri. Then the flood gates opened… Manolo Gabbiadini found the ball all alone in the 6 yard box to make it 2-0 in the 23rd minute of play. Then, 10 minutes later, he netted his second of the match to make it 3 nil. Napoli were essentially parked in Midtjylland’s half the entirety of the first half. The Danish side were truly in for a long night in Naples.
In the second half, Napoli did not stop their pressure and carried on attacking in search of a fourth goal. The Partenopei found their 4th goal from, who would have thought, Christian Maggio. The veteran picked up his first goal since January of 2013. Finally, after a barrage of chances, Callejon found his goal in the 77th minute off a header to make it 5 nil. It was just that kind of night for Napoli.
