Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini believes luck played a part in his side’s defeat at the hands of Juventus tonight.
Manchester City fell by a score of 1-0 to Juventus and relinquished the top spot in the group. Pellegrini, however, believes that his side deserved more. After the game he told reporters,:
“It was a good game from both sides. Juventus were lucky to win as we had many chances to draw level. It’s tough to say if Hart is truly injured, we’ll know more tomorrow.”
On losing the first spot in the group:
“The group is not yet closed. It was a good opportunity for us but we will see what Juve will do against Sevilla. The Spaniards must win to stay in Europe.”
Are you frustrated with the lack of goals?
“We had many chances to score but it’s important to score the first goal. We didn’t take our chances but we tried to establish a balance throughout. I’m not satisfied. The game was never going to be easy in a tough stadium. The players didn’t maintain the same intensity all game.”
Are Juve stronger than City?
“Both games against them followed similar trajectories. Luck definitely played a part, here we played the best possible. Juve have quality players.”
